The McGuire family I am in is descendent from A Lt. James McGuire who reportedly came to America from Ireland about 1760. There are so many McGuire families in the Kentucky region. I do not have a Robert McGuire of Henderson in my files but that does not say it is not possible. Here is short list. John McGuire born about 1710 in Ireland. Children: Margaret, Hester, *James, Archibald, *William and*John.(there were probably others)
*James md. Margaret Elizabeth Black(posibly a 2nd wife) Margaret was Dau. of Samuel and Catherine Shaw Black. Children: Francis Marion, Cornelious, *John,*Hester,*James,*Margaret,*William,**Archibald. I have more info on those I have noted with*. **My ancestor, Archibald, md. 1. Margaret Guyer. 7 children. Md. 2, Susanna Bush Sharp, widow of Aaron Sharp. No children. Md. 3 Catherine Brandenburg, dau. of Joseph and Delilah Brandenburg. 7 children. My grat Grandfather(William Guyer McGuire)was son of Archibald and wife #1. The Mcguires' are noted for long lives and large families. They lived in Madison, Greenup, Menifee,Mason, Estill,Wolf, Lincoln, Owsley, Lee, Jackson, Rockcastle counties in Easter Ky. Just to name a feww counties. Fron Ky. they spread EVERYWHERE. The Mcguires were in Ky. as early as 1772 that can be definitely documented. They come from Ireland to Kentucky by way of Virginia.(and probably elsewhere.) Hope this helps. Hope this helps.
