Marilyn, hope you pick up on this !my request for a marriage lookup is complicated so let me give you some background on this George(Zimmerman) Carpenter whose 3 sons Adam,Conrad and John built Carpenters Station in1780 Lincoln Co.Va...their descendants followed til the birth of this Jonathon! This John(Jonathon)B. Carpenter, b.ca 1840 in Lincoln Co Ky..Who was listed as deceased by all of the Carpenter researchers! They had him listed as "b.1840 he died"..)While in fact he had changed his name from Jonathon to John...He IS listed in his fathers house (Hugh Logan Carpenter) in the 1850 census as Jonathon but from there he just disappears til the 1880 census when he is found as John B, in Lincoln Co Ky(chngd from Va to Ky)(widowed?)living with his 7 yr old son Thomas and 9 month old John L... At this point we are stumped!! Cannot find any trace of my ggrandpa's 1st marriage,if in fact he was even married,,AND keeping house is a divorcee Louisa Rogers Gibson w/her 2 kids...This is where I entered the scene with a KYDC for a John B. Carpenter, sorta stood them on their toes..Where was he from 1850 til 1880
The following paragraph is my lookup request!!
I suspect his 1st wife was ONLEY as both my father Neiman ONLEY Carpenter and I Gene ONLEY Carpenter have carried this moniker around all our lives. Am unable to find any lady's with that surname,ONLEY, anywhere in Ky at that time. My DNA ties into another documented descendant so we know this is the right guy..Please see if they are in your book..
I am hoping that your book might hold a clue as to Thomas and John L's mother was.... Also wish your book went on into the 1900 period as John and Louisa co-habbed and produced 2 more son's that we know of William B and George F Carpenter. She's last seen in 1900 census in Waynesburg Ky with HER 3 son' John L,William B and Geo.F..She disappears at this point, don't know if she finally married someone or went to Ok with George F and wife(my gma and pa) in 1903.. I get confused myself everytime I look at it..Thank you
