I used to go see those guys when they were the Jeff Pollard Band, playing in an off-LSU bar in the mid-70's.FAP's, I think.I wonder what Freddie Pou (the owner) is doing today...I used to work for his brother, Robert, at the White Horse Tavern, another off-LSU bar, and closed now for over 20 years.
Pollard and crew renamed themselves to LaRoux, and then to Louisiana's LaRoux (there was another signed band with the same name (!)), and produced that first album, just after I graduated.
I understand they're still playing.Pollard went off to do Christian music. But the old core is still there.I think an old neighbor and schoolmate of mine, Randy Knaps, is singing with them now.Or he was, a few years back.
(For the befuddled: Richard was quoting a line from the song "New Orleans Ladies" by Louisiana's LaRoux referring to Esplanade Avenue...)
