I'm the priest in Basile, Louisiana, and the Bayou Nepique is the boundary line between Basile and Elton. The Schambers Family was one of the founding families in Basile. In the St. Augustine Church Cemetary are the following graves:
Louis F. Schamber (born July 5, 1850 and died April 4, 1932, it looks like through the whitewash).I think he was Basile's first Postmaster. His wife, Severin Fuselier, (born May 7, 1860 and died Sept. 7, 1930).Sidney D. Schamber, (born August 24, 1895 and died Jan. 6, 1917).Lovinia Schamber, wife of Louis Sonnier (Lovinia was born Dec 12, 1887 and died May 20, 1974).And then, I remember the funeral of Olympe Landry Schamber who died at the age of 99 years old on Nov. 2, 1996.
AS for Millertown, I know that the Veterinarian Dr. Ben Miller takes care of the Miller Cemetary at Millerville. His office phone is: (337) 457-4136 in Eunice, Louisiana.Good Luck in your research and I hope that this is helpful.God Bless, Fr. Ken Domingue (firstname.lastname@example.org)
