I am looking for *Edward HUNT, (b. abt 1785ish?) [guess based on birth of first child in 1816 and wife born in 1789]. He married Eunice Clapp,(born June 23, 1789; died at Syracuse, N. Y., April 7, 1851;) daughter of Joseph Clapp and Susannah Lyman, of Easthampton, MA.
They had three sons and one daughter: i)Harriet Susan Hunt, born January 24, 1821; died July 10, 1858; married Moses Somers, editor Syracuse Standard; no children. She died at the home of Charles McKnight, in Truxton, N. Y. ii)Joseph Emerson Hunt, born June 28, 1823; died September 18, 1847, at Milwaukee; no children. iii)Edward Horace Hunt, born February 21, 1819; married, had two daughters and one son. The son, Emerson, died about 1885. The daughters, Alice and Genevieve, resided at Jackson, Mich., with their father. iv)*Sumner Lyman Hunt, born May 11, 1816; married 1) Irene Montgomery [mother of children] 2) Mary Etta Frost, resided in Syracuse NY, he had three children as follows:
?i)Clarence S. Hunt, Utica, N. Y.; born November 23, 1857. *ii)Leon E. Hunt, New York City; born November 27, 1861., married Winnifred Moran ?iii)Harriet I. Hunt, born November 19, 1864; married Charles H. Seymour; resides with her father in Syracuse, N. Y.
Edward and Eunice would have been married by 1816, the birth of their first child. I have found them in the book: "Genealogical record of Thomas and Harriet Clapp McKnight" By William Stevens Brockway, and he talks about the various marraiges of Susannah Lyman and Joseph Clapp's children. In that and all the references I can find they mention that Eunice Clapp marries Edward Hunt but give no mention/clue/hint as to Edward Hunt's parentage. I haven't found their marriage either.
