I found the MERRYMAN side and one more generation for BLIZZARD.
A Google search brings up Blizzard Fam. Cem., Baltimore Co., compiled by Wm. HOLLIFIELD:
John BLIZZARD (1755 - 1808) & wf. Chloe (1758 - 1810)
John BLIZZARD (1777 - 1820), s/o John
Rebecca [MERRYMAN] (1784 - 1814), wf/o John BLIZZARD
Rachel, d. 31 Oct. 1863, aged 80, wf/o Isaac BLIZZARD.
Balto. Co. M. License, 9 Apr. 1804, Rebecca MERRYMAN - John BLIZZARD.Rebecca was dau/o Saml. & Ruth.
Land record:Ludwig WAMPLER, Balto. Co., petitioned that John BLIZZARD, late of Balto. Co., decd., had surveyed a parcel called "Water Wanting," five acres plus, by virtue of a special warrant of 22 July 1800.BLIZZARD since died, leaving Stephen, Wm., Isaac, John, Isaiah, Sarah, Susany, who m. Christopher [ALWOOD / ATWOOD?], & Ruth, who m. Solomon MARTIN.Chloe, wid/o sd. John BLIZZARD, decd., and all other children & husbands had conveyed the land to Sarah, who assigned to petitioner.Granted 10 May 1822.LDS Family History Center film 0013135, p. 161, Certificates and Patents, 1818 - 1829.Contributor is listed with e-mail address.
Samuel, son of Samuel MERRYMAN (12 N 1721 - 25 S 1809) & Jane Price, is in MD Historical Magazine, 1915, article by Francis CULVER:
Samuel MERRYMAN (17 Je. 1745, St. Paul's Parish - 1805; of Saml. 4, 3, Chas., John) m. Ruth _.Samuel's will of 16 S 1805, pr. 26 Oct. 1805, named wf. Ruth, sons Mordecai & George Price MERRYMAN, daus. Rachel CHAPMAN & Rebecca BLIZZARD, & grandch. Saml. & Mordecai Merryman WELSH.Mordecai m. by lic/o 27 Mar. 1811, Margaret MAY.Mary m. by lic of 17 Oct. 1795, Laban WELSH.[Family is not followed further.]
Regarding the immigrant to Virginia, the article says that a Lancaster Co., VA, deed, 10 Nov. 1680, from Wm. MERRIMAN, Lancaster Co., planter, eldest s/o John, decd.; Charles MERRIMAN, wheelwright, youngest son of sd. John; Edward CARTER, of same, planter, & Audrie, his wf., late wid/o sd. John MERRIMAN, conveyed to Lt. Col. Jno. CARTER & Capt. David FOX, for use of the county to establish a town, fifty acres, part of a patent of 14 Nov. 1649, to sd. John MERRIMAN, decd. [VA Hist. Mag. V:430].
That would indicate that only two sons were living in 1680.However, another notation says that while the immigrant was living, John and Audrey had been given a cow for use of their son John.[I don't have the proof.]Another researcher says there were probably up to six total children of John MERRYMAN & Audrey.
Ed MERRYMAN found in St. Andrew's, Cranleigh, Surrey, England, 4 May 1623, marriage of Wm. MERRIMAN & Elizabeth HARWOOD. Unverified source says they had a son John. When the John MERRIMAN of Virginia filed for 500 acres of land for transporting his wife Audrey and others, 14 Nov. 1649, Thomas HARWOOD filed for 300 acres near him.
Can anybody link this family of St. Andrew's to John MERRIMAN / MERRYMAN of Lancaster Co., VA, & his descendants in Maryland?
