Maine Writer's Conference - 1959
I picked up a booklet at the small Vass, North Carolina Library (it was for sale for .25 but the Librarian gave it to me) titled "CONTEST POEMS / ANNUAL POETRY TOURNAMENT / MAINE WRITER'S CONFERENCE / OCEAN PARK, MAINE / 1959
First Prize by Judges (forfeited-not at conference) went to Margaret Ford Kiernan, wife of John Kiernan (of "Information Please" - TV Panels - Lecturer & Educator---) (as written in booklet)
BLACK IRISH by Margaret Ford Kiernan
Down by the tree, my goal,
I mark his place.
I stretch my grief on the knoll
and bury my face.
Bury my face in the sod
where the sharp grass meets the sea.
Oh his soul may be with God
But his body lies here with me.
I would like to give it to the Maine Writer's Conference Archives. Can someone direct me to the right contact?
Thank you, Amy 910-949-2853
