Dear Reva,
I just posted a newspaper article to the PASCOE Rootsweb board that mentioned the drowning in a boating accident of 17 year old John PASCOE of Iron Mountain, Michigan with 26 year old William HOSKING.The newspaper article was from July 25, 1896 in the St. Paul Globe which I found at http://www.loc.gov/chroniclingamericahttp://www.loc.gov/chroniclingamerica Perhaps this is Emma's brother and the accident you mentioned. This brief article did not mention that anyone else died but perhaps with this date you might find something in Michigan records.
I suppose you're aware that Emma's birthplace in the 1900 census is listed as New York and not Michigan-a mistake or accurate??
My PASCOE family originated in Camborne, Cornwall, England and I keep an eye out for the name in mining areas and that's why I wondered who were the parents of this John who drowned in Iron Mountain, Michigan and where they came from.
Have you discovered who Emma's parents were and where in England they originated?
Best wishes,
Karen
