Donald Schiel Obit
BROOKLYN — Donald Schiel, age 79, of Brooklyn passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at the Hospice of Jackson-Hospice Home. He was born March 11, 1928, in Detroit, the son of Lester John and Edna (Eitel) Schiel.
He married Leta Skeese in Brooklyn on July 19, 1957, and she survives. Mr. Schiel is also survived by his children, Carol (Rick) Robertson of Foley, Ala., Donnie (Joe) Carson of Ark, Va., and Ron (Julie) Schiel of Brooklyn; six grandchildren, Deleasa Zelenka, Karin Robertson, Matt Carson, A.J. Schiel, Stacy Schiel and Hanna Carson; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Zelenka and Brianna Zelenka; a brother, Richard Schiel of Brooklyn; and two sisters, Dorothy (Doug) Flager of Onsted and Judy (Roy) Roark of Brooklyn. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Joann Schiel.
A celebration of Donald’s life will take place Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, where he will lie in state at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Kelly Smith officiating. Burial will take place at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Jackson and Oaklawn.
