Daniel Clarence Vasher III Obit
MOUNT MORRIS — Daniel Clarence Vasher III, age 66, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 20, 2007.
He was born March 6, 1941, in Ypsilanti, the son of Daniel C. and Julia (Smith) Vasher II, the fourth of sixteen children. He married his wife of 40 years, JoAnn Alexander, in 1967 and she survives.
Also surviving are Dan’s mother, Julia; his children, Judy (Steve) Whetstone, Daniel (Tami) Vasher IV, Tracy (Tracy) Gibbs, Alex Vasher and Dallas Vasher; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nine sisters, four brothers; and a multitude of nieces and nephews, to whom he was known as beloved “Uncle Danny.” He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel; daughter, Sue-Ann Webb; grandsons, Jackson Gibbs and Zachery Vasher; granddaughter, Katelyn Carter; brother, Leander Vasher; and sister, Eleanor Howling.
Dan experienced several careers throughout the years, including service in the Marine Corps and working as a Federal Corrections officer and as a licensed EMT. He graduated from Wayne State Mortuary School in 1986, becoming a licensed funeral director, and was a volunteer at the Ridgeway Township Fire Department. His various careers led Dan and his family to many areas of the country, such as California, Illinois, North Dakota and Arizona. Dan’s greatest joys were bluegrass music, old westerns and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We rejoice in his rejoining the Lord and his loved ones in Heaven.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jerry Beach of Mayfair Bible Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeway Cemetery. Contributions in Dan’s memory may be made to the donor’s choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Please sign his guest book at www.starkfuneral.com.
