Sister D’Haene, O.P. Obit
ADRIAN — Sister Dorothy D’Haene, formerly known as Sister Henry Francis D’Haene, died on Dec. 27, 2007, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich. She was 83 years of age and in the 58th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sister Dorothy was born in Detroit, Mich., to Nobyn and Dorothy (Odette) D’Haene. She graduated from St. Ambrose High School in Detroit, Mich., and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, Mich., and a Master of Arts Degree in English from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla.
Sister spent 42 years ministering in education in Oakland, Palm Springs and Riverside, Calif.; Hollywood, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Shores, Fla.; Nassau, Bahamas; Rome, Ga.; St. Clair Shores, Adrian, Dearborn Heights, Flint, East Lansing, Grand Ledge, Farmington and Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. Sister was Principal from 1963 to 1966 at St. Mary School in Rome, Ga. In 1995, Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian.
Sister Dorothy is survived by loving nephews and nieces.
Visitation is from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, in the Gathering Space of St. Catherine Chapel at the Dominican Life Center, followed by Vigil Prayer at 7 p.m. in St. Catherine Chapel. The Funeral Liturgy will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2007. Burial will be in the Congregation cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
