Kenneth L. Schaedler Obit
BLISSFIELD — Kenneth L. Schaedler, 88, of Blissfield passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at the Lake Park Nursing Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio.
Ken was born on May 12, 1919, in Riga Township, the son of John and Neva (Lewis) Schaedler. He was married on July 4, 1939, to Rhea Miller.
Ken served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and worked all of his life in the plumbing and heating business. He was a past president of the Blissfield Rotary Club, and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, as well as a past district representative. Ken was a member of the Palmyra Masonic Lodge, the Blissfield American Legion, a past president of the Lenawee Home Builders Association, and a member of the Blissfield Golf League. Over the years, Ken has served as Plumbing Inspector for the City of Adrian, Adrian Township, Village of Blissfield, Whiteford Township, Riga Township, and Palmyra Township. Ken also was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Blissfield.
Surviving is Ken’s wife, Rhea Schaedler of Blissfield; children, Carol (David) Miller of Downers Grove, Ill., Doug (Elaine) Schaedler of Holland, Mich., Phil (Barbara) Schaedler of Tecumseh and Laura Schaedler of Tecumseh; brother, Richard Schaedler of Palmyra; nieces and nephews, Arnold Klump, Donna Klump-Billings, Delight Romsek and Dwight Klump; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lewis Schaedler, and nephew Wayne Klump.
Funeral services for Ken will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Blissfield, with the Rev. Michael Mayo-Moyle officiating. Following services, cremation will take place. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield, and Monday after 10 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
