Maurice Rene Lievens Obit
BLISSFIELD — Maurice Rene Lievens, 84, of Blissfield passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at Provincial House in Adrian. He was born on March 7, 1923, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Charles and Augusta (Woerenburg) Lievens. On April 14, 1951, he was married to Rose Ann Creque. She survives.
Maurice was a veteran of the United States Army and had served his country during World War II. He devoted his life to his family and worked as a self-employed farmer until retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Blissfield, the Adrian Knights of Columbus and the Blissfield American Legion Post #325. Maurice’s favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing, bowling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Rose Ann Lievens of Blissfield; four children, Susan Coopshaw of Blissfield, Sandra (Skip) Todd of Blissfield, Sharon (Jeff) Clark of Adrian and Charles (Lynette) Lievens of Blissfield; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and four sisters, Audrey Cousino of Erie, Mich., Dorothy Burgermeister of Blissfield, Rosie Harpst of Adrian and Pauline Zimmerman of Blissfield. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Maurice will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Blissfield with Father Francis Mossholder officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield with a military graveside service being performed by the Blissfield American Legion Post #325 and the Blissfield V.F.W. Post #10912. Visitation will take place on Sunday at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in honor of Maurice may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
