Thomas Korican Obit
BRITTON — Thomas Korican Sr., 95, of Britton, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at his winter residence in Bradenton, Fla.
Tom was born on January 14, 1913, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Thomas and Anna (Rumisek) Korican. On Sept. 12, 1936, he married Mary Machacek, his loving wife of 71 years. Other survivors include a daughter, Marilyn (Michael) Jurasek of Bradenton, Fla.; sons Thomas Jr. (Elaine) Korican of Tecumseh, and Donald (Colette) Korican of Britton; eight grandchildren, Lindsey, Amber, Megan, Sara, Kristen, Jennifer, Gregory, and Cory; and three great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Hunter, and Riley. Also surviving are two daughters-in-law, Sheila Korican of Dundee, and Barbara Korican of Clinton; a brother, Emil Korican of Britton; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Gerald, sister Mary Bruce, and brother Frank.
Tom was a farmer in the Britton area for over 60 years. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, the Tecumseh Grange and Masons, the Michigan Farm Bureau, and the American Bohemian Club. He loved sports, tractor pulls at the county fairs, Czech music, and playing cards. His highlight was being around his grandchildren, family and friends.
A public visitation and graveside memorial service for Tom will be scheduled for sometime in May. Local arrangements are being entrusted to the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield.
