Zaida PELHAM and Fred Ernest SHOEMAKER, both born ca 1883, were married on 4 Jun 1903 in Somerset, Lenawee, MI. Somerset is maybe 4? miles from CC and probably was closer cross-country in 1915.

If Bernice didn't write the inscription, her friend's name may have been remembered as Ada but actually was Zaida, probably pronounced zay da.
