My grandmother was born in Menominee, Menominee, Michigan in 1894. That's what my mother recorded on her marriage certificate. I've since learned that her parents went there, from Russia/Poland, anywhere from the years 1878-1890 ( I know, a wide range. 1900-1920 census' ( Michigan and Pennsylvania ) all have different dates ). From 1890-1903, at least six other siblings were born in the state of Michigan. That is what was what is on the 1900-1920 census records. The thing is, except for a girl named Georgia, I cannot find my grandmother or her other siblings in the Michigan Births and Christenings Index 1867-1911. Can anyone tell me somewhere I can find their births recorded? Also, could any of you historians here send me an educated quess why a Polish Russian would decided to go to that area, in the late 19th century? Menominee is a long way away....:) Thanks for any help. Having lived in Michigan for three years before I moved back East, my connection to the state is dear to my heart. When I go back to visit, I'd like to view it with an enriched understanding of my ancestry.
