Ingvar,
I have found more info I can give you now on my Sandquists in Minnesota to see if we have a connection.
My GG Grandfather Alfrid Sandquist, born in Sweden March 06, 1857, died June 22, 1911 in Minnesota was married to Charlotte Nelson born in Sweden est. 1858, died 1919, Both emmigrated to U.S. in 1881, and settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
Alfred's Death Record shows his Father's name as "Johanson". Our family had heard that Alfrid changed his original family name in Sweden to SANDQUIST. Stories told were that he chose Sandquist after the name of their village , which sounds like "Sand Hoost".
You mentioned you have seen a photo of their house. I have learned that Alrid built by himself, a beautiful home in Minneapolis. Address was 2940 Elliot Avenue in Minneapolis. If you feel we may have a connection, please E-mail me directly and I can E-mail you a photo of this home, which I now have a copy of. Maybe you can recognize if it is the same house you had seen before.
Best Regards,
Denise in Minnesota
