Chariton & Jackson County Riddles via Illinois & Kentucky (1822-present)
I'm trying to find information regarding my gggrandparents: James W Riddle(1822-Ky)married Rachel Colvin (1827-Indiana)on 9/27/1847 in Quincy, Adams, Illinois. In 1860 they lived in Ursa, Adams, Illinois and had the following children: George P, Charles J, Susan A, Adelia A. James W had 2 brothers (?-cousins) living with them then: George P (1828) & John P (1820)also born in Kentucky. I can't figure out where.
By 1880, Charles J was living in Mendon, Chariton, Missouri, Married to Ann Elizabeth, had twins (1878) Maud and Mead, & Jesse J (1881-my gf). Also in the household were his mother Rachel and 2 younger siblings, Martha (1864) and John W (1868). Those were the days. And all this without indoor plumbing!
By 1900 they had moved to Kansas City, Mo and had Earle (1884) and Charles (1886) plus a daughter whose name begins with an L(1891)that I can't read.
If these names and dates ring a bell or if this family configuration sounds familiar to anyone, I'd like to hear from you and share information. I'm eager to know where James and Rachel came from. Thanks. Doris
