Harrell, Garland & Garner in the 19th century
My grandfather was named Lloyd Herin Garner, b May 17, 1898 Sweetwater, Newton County, Missouri.
I have wondered for years where the heck his parents got the name "Herin" from, as I have not uncovered a Herin surname in his ancestry. Then a friend of mine who researches both Harrells and Garlands told me "Herin" could be a misspelling of "Harrell".
My grandfather also named one of his boys Paul Garland Garner. Again, no idea where the "Garland" came from.
Lloyd Herin Garner was the son of Joel Labron Garner & Debbie Cecilia Clement. Am also wondering about the name "Labron", have seen it spelled in a number of different ways. Known surnames/places in my grandfathers ancestry include:
GARNER=>Newton Co, MO, Rutherford Co, TN, Henry Co, VA (possibly North Carolina mixed in here somewhere)
ADAMS=>Tennessee
HOWELL=> Tennessee. Including James Butler Howell, b 1805 Tennessee, married 1828 Rhea Co, TN, d 1898 Modoc Co, CA=>John Howell died 1820 Hawkins Co, TN, married Mary NN
JONES=>Tennessee (disputed)
CLEMENT=>Spencer Co, IN, Kentucky, South Carolina
BUFKIN/BUSKIN=>Spencer Co, IN, Norfolk/Nansemond counties, VA
SCHOOLFIELD/SCOFIELD=> Indiana, Maryland
THARP/THORP=>Indiana, Gloucester Co, VA
LAMAR=>Spencer Co, IN, Tennessee
