That would explain why she just disappeared off the records but, blast, looking at the fragment of Anns obit (1934) that I have there is an area "......she has two immediate survivors, Mrs. Rogers, and an older daughter, Mrs. A.L. Curtis of Vancouver, B.C. who visited her last August 15 1933 when the aged woman celebrated her 104 birthday...."Looks like we should look in Canadian census' for an A.L. Curtis?Hmm.Never noticed that before.
Do you live in the Omaha area?Since statewide birth and death registration started in 1905 in Nebraska, and most counties had complied by 1920, it would be worth a shot to do a public record lookup of that Agnes Curits, and request a copy of her funeral record or cemetery record from Laurel Hill.
If you are not in the Omaha area, I will pursue finding a volunteer to do lookups in that area for us if you would like me to. There area a couple of different websites that list such people.
Certainly, I would love to have any info on William Curtis for my family file :) You can email the info to me or by post if you wish.If you would like my address I can email it to you. Please clarify your email address since the printout on the link for your name does not come out very clear.
Ann and John Ryan were both on the 1910 census with daughters Mary and Anna. They are living on 1404 North 24th St in South Omaha.Couldn't find anything for 1920, but in 1930 Ann is lving with Daughter, Mary and son in law Arthur B Rogers in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of "100". Arthur and Mary had two children at the time: Dorothy and Eugene. Not sure if I can accept the age, since every other census: 1870,1880,1900 and 1910 would have all put her birthyear around 1840.
Along those lines, do you have a picture of John or Ann Ryan, Agnes parents?I have one of Ann that was sent to Peter Ryans daughter, Katherine, by his first marriage. Katherine became a nun and was known as Sr. Briggittine. On the back of the photo of Ann:"Yours Truly, Ann Ryan Aug 15 1832 - age 103."She is sitting with a quilt in her lap.
I also have a loose photo that someone told me was John Ryan but have never been able to verify that.Would be happy to send you a copy of both if you would want them and could send me your mailing address to my email (email@example.com) If you have a pic of John and or Ann or Agnes, I would love to have photocopies for my file.
I also see in her obit copy I have that she attended Immaculate Conception church in Omaha. That might be another source for info. Wish I knew what church they attended in Scranton when John and Peter's kids were born.Sometimes church records like baptismal records list the parish or townland where the parents were born.
Well, I am drifting off in a million directions with this suddenly.Let me know if you would like me to get hold of someone to do a public record lookup in Omah:)
