Cawker City, KS Journal December 7, 1882
"Conrad Wentz, died at his residence on Granite Creek, three miles east of Cawker City, Nov. 28, 1882, aged 63 years, five months and 24 days. He leaves a wife and eleven child- ren, five of the children are at home with the mother in needy circumstances. He came from Reinpfalz, Bayern, Germany to Pennsylvania in 1848 where he was married to Charlotte Mader, Jan 1, 1850. He located at this place with the rest of the Pennsylvania colony Oct. 15, 1870. He was greatly afflicted for many years with gravel, and was once operated upon by Dr. D. C. Everson and two other physicians. He was a Presbyterian. This last sickness, with a complication of diseases creating intense suffering, he bore with christian fortitude and submission. One of simple, earnest faith has gone to rest. May the blessing of God rest upon the bereaved family."
The Wentz family of Bayern, Bavaria, Germany migrated across Europe, first to Holland and then to England, coming to America in 1848, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania near the postal towns of Eldredsville in 1860 and Millview in 1870. Conrad Wentz, age 44, occupation farmer, from Germany, was listed in the July 1863 Consolidated Draft Registry, Forks, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. The family moved from the census township of Forks, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania to Kansas in 1870, homesteading in Mitchell County. 1920 Federal Census, daughter Mary Repke(Rupeka,Rupke) Bauer Thurs Anderson and brother Jacob Wentz, would indicate their father's birthplace was Friesland and mother's birthplace was Bavaria.
Conrad Wentz died intestate November 28, 1882, leaving a widow, and eleven children. Charlotte Wentz has also been noted as Charlotte Walter, mother of the bride, at the marriage of her daughter Caroline Wentz Hohner to August F. Stumme. Charlotte Wentz remarried, age 52, to Gustav Ernst Kraemer, age 29, Feb 13, 1885, at the Presbyterian Parsonage in Beloit, KS.

Charlotte Louise Wentz married in 1892 to Henry Bretthauer, Red Cloud, Webster Co., NE and in 1895 to Lorenzo Brown, Clay Co., NE.
Caroline Wentz married Henry Hohner sometimes noted as Heener. Child 1: Carl Hohner, born February 18, 1875, death May 1967, Hastings, Adams Co., NE, child 2: Henry Hohner Jr., born July 26, 1878, death August 1966, Smith Center, Smith Co., KS, child 3: Charlie Hohner.
Caroline Wentz Hohner would marry August Fredrick Stumme 1888 KS, child 1: Minnie Julia Dora Stumme, born October 1882, KS, child 2: (Mary) Karoline Marie Stumme, born March 7, 1884, Smith Center, Smith Co., KS, death September 5, 1970, Wray, Yuma Co., CO, child 3: Leana Stumme born February 1886 KS, child 4: August Stumme Jr., born February 14, 1888 KS, death Jan 1970, Hastings, Adams Co., NE. August Fredrick Stumme died March 3, 1900 in Glenville, Clay Co., NE.
