Re: Rathbun home
I submitted the photo of the Rathbun home to rootsweb.com., as well as the photo of the toombstone of Lewis and Anne Rathbun.
This James Rathbun home built about 1882 which burned to the ground about 1987 was the original home of James Rathbun and Mary Ann Wolfe Rathbun. After James's death, his daughter Alice Rathbun Layton and Andrew Iverson Layton, my grandparents took over the farm and house and lived their until Alice's death in 1946.
Thanks for your reply clarifying the marriages of Elsie Doyle Pierce Rathbun. That being the case then Elsie and her sister, Marjorie Doyle married brothers, who were the sons of Lewis and Annie Rathbun.
As a child, I remember Arthur and Elsie.Arthur Rathbun was my father, Arthur Layton's first cousin, they were about the same age, and grew up together in Odell, NE.
I suspect your interest is through the Doyle side, however if there is anything on the Rathbun side, don't hesitate to email me.
