Thank you for the reply.I did find out some interesting things.I talked to the lady who purchased the tombstone. She felt so bad because the "poor man didn't have one" and her dad and grandfather worked at the cemetery so when she got older she purchased the stone.
She went on to add that "everybody" at the American Legion told her he wasn't buried here, but she is sure he is!I asked her where she got the year of 1907.She couldn't remember.
I plan on going to see the records in the near future to see who is actually there, if anyone. The lady with the records couldn't find them, but invited me down to look.
The site Find A Grave took my picture off of it's site!Even if we find he is not here (which I doube) it is still an interesting part of his history.
I contacted about everyone I could think of in Clyde, Ohio and actually got one person mad at me for even insinuating that he might not be there.
Others were interested in the history of why some think he might be here in Nebraska. The neighboring county is McPherson and was named for him, but I cannot find and record of his having been here.
I will keep looking and post my findings.
If you are interested in a photo of the tombstone please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will send it to you.
