Here is what I am trying to prove at the moment:
Joseph Pinder and Hepsebeth Davis had a s. Thomas b. 1752
Thomas Pinder and Sarah Burnham had a child, named John Burnham b abt 1770, out of wedlock. Thomas later m. 1779 Elizabeth Leighton; Sarah later married Isaiah Brooks 1769
John Burnham and ? were the parents of Joseph Pinder Burnham
Joseph Pinder Burnham and Mary A. Canney had a son Joseph P. (Pinder?) Burnham.
This is further supported by the presence of John Burnham in the census records of the Brooks family and a late christening of a John Brooks in 1792 at Church of Christ in Buxton, Maine. Sarah would have been 52 at that time, a tad late for a newborn child some nine years after the last.
It would be wonderful to find the proof of this speculation. It is the best I can do.There is little else to rationalize a Joseph Pinder in the Burnham line unless you go back to the 1600s in Ipswich.
Comments welcome.
