This was placed in the bible.Death of Miss Eliza Chapin
Miss Eliza Chapin died at the home of her neice, Miss Elizabeth Phelps, in this village (Canandaigua, NY) yesterday morning at 10 o'clock, at the great age of 95 years.Miss Chapin had long been the oldest native resident of the village, and since the death of Theodore Crosby had been the oldest resident here.
She was born on the 19th of April, 1805, being the daughter of the late Thaddeus Chapin, and grand daughter of General Isreal Chapin, one of the original settlers here, and for several years the government Indian Agent. She was the sister of the late Thaddeus Chapin, Jr. and of the late Mrs. Oliver Phelps, and is survived by one nephew, George B. Chapin, of this village, and three neices, Miss Elizabeth Phelps and Mrs. T.E. Munson, of this village, and Mrs. Frank G. Clark, of Oxford, NY.
It goes on to say that she was the youngest daughter of this notable family and kept her faculties until she died. Her funeral was in the Congregational Church. My ancestors founded that church in their own house and the borther of Abigail Field, Timothy Field was the pastor.
Hope this helps.
James Pepper
