Re: Patents(for inventions) 1800s NYS
"As one of 78 U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Patent Depository Libraries, the [New York] State Library has a complete collection of U.S. Patents and the resources necessary to utilize this vast assemblage of technical literature, including utility, design, plant, and reissue patents, Statutory Invention Registrations, and other special types of patent literature."
I have researched the patents of a particular inventor there at the State Library in Albany, using an index arranged alphabetically by the name of the inventor.I don't remember the exact title of the index, but the reference desk staff should be able to help you find it.
If Albany is not convenient for you, perhaps you are near another of the 78 Patent Depository Libraries with similar resources.See the list at http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/ac/ido/ptdl/ptdlib_1.htmlhttp://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/ac/ido/ptdl/ptdlib_1.html
