While looking for my NY Crocketts, I found an article in the Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY Herald 3/19/1916. It was sort of a early genealogy column so the information may be worthless but here it is.
It mentioned various things about the name and went on to say.....
In England the family is established at Little Owen Hall, County Stafford. The coat of arms borne by this family is, Argent three Cornish choughs proper. Crest: Cornish Chough.proper. Motto: "Crow not, croke not." Among the first of the name in this county were two brothers Jonathan and Nathaniel. Jonathan married Elional Robbins and lived in Falmouth, now Portland, Me. Nathaniel married Eunice Cooper lived in Maine and later in Ohio, where his descendants still reside.
I thought it was worth sharing.
