Sandra, I found the marriage record in the Belmont County Marriage Records, Book 5 1838-1844. I have the "Genealogical Records in Belmont Co., Ohio Vol. 8 (see page 38)"
I know Sylvanus Russell is on the 1840 census for Beallsville, Monroe, Ohio, 1850 census, Beallsville, Monroe, Ohio and then in 1860 he is in Wayne, Belmont Co., Ohio.
I also have the Genealogical Records in Belmont County, Ohio Vol. 2, P. 36: Under April 5, 1877 in the Death notices it states he was once a Potter at Centreville, Smith Tp, he hanged himself in the barn of Thomas Yarnall, son-in-law, in Wayne Tp.
Family lore says he was depressed, because he couldn't use his hands to work anymore.
I think his parents names were William Russell & Ruth Sherman, but I have not yet confirmed this. They would have been from Mass. I know in the 1820 census for Belmont Ohio there is a William Rufsel (Russell). I don't know if he is connected yet or not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated or atleast get me pointed in the right direction. I hope to take a trip out to Belmont, Ohio in the Spring when the weather gets better.
