I have some info on your Baird family buried in the Somerford cemetery.

William James Baird b Nov 18, 1848d Apr 2, 1923 Clark county Ohio he was married July 4, 1875 Clark county Oh to Leah Comfort b 1852 Madison county OH she died in 1936. she is the daughter of Henry Comfortb 1825 PA d 22 Nov, 1895 and Catherine Heffley, who were married in Madison county 7 Sept 1851 by Old Samuel Wilson, Catherine was born May 31, 1831 d Nov 22, 1895 d/o Charles Mathis Heffley (1789-Aug 9, 1863) and Elizabeth Wilson B Oct 18, 1796 Clark County KY and d May 4, 1856. Elizabeth is the d/o Jacob Wilson and Mary Lee Fritz, Jacob is the s/o John Willison b 1717 from NJ.this family came NJ to VA, KY OH

the older part of theSomerford cemetery is the Wilson cemetery and is located on what was the Wilson farm.


Ihave 2 children for William and Leah Comfort Baird

1.Eleanor Alice Baird b 26 Dec 1884 Clark county OH, she is incorrectly entered as a male in the birth records. she d Aug 1959she was married 16 June 1904 Clark county OH to Henry Fred Shultis b 1880 PA and died Aug 1959

She is buried Somerford cemetery, with Ernest and Amelia

2. Ernest Comfort Baird b Nov 1, 1876 d 22 Sept 1933 Allen county OH married 25 Mar 1902, Jefferson KY to Amelia May Reese b 1881 KY and d 7 Jan 1960, Allen county OH they are both buried in the Somerford cemetery but she does not have a stone. there is a Civil War pension record for him.

I have more information on the Wilson family. I think I might have some Heffley obits. I have a book with obits of Somerford twp. people.

some other names with the Wilson family are Seaman, Brooks, Roberts, Judy, Ott, and Many more. the family first settled in Greene county Oh , but soon were in Clark and Madison counties.if you drew a line from Springfield to London along rt 40 itwould cover the land that belong to these families.
