John Scribner and Silence Leland
John Scribner and his wife, Silence Leland, came to Delaware County about 1805, following his father, Samuel Scribner Jr.,into the area. Silence was counted in the 1820 census as Solonee. Her husband was in prison for assault at that time. John Scribner shows up in the 1830, 1840 and 1850 census of Delaware County. I know that Silence died in 1825. Looking for proof that this couple was the parents of my great-grandmother, Sarah Scribner McPherson, and her sisters, Ursula Scribner Houseworth, Elizabeth Scribner Houseworth, Emily Scribner Mann and Permelia Scribner Gillet. John did not leave a will and bought no property. John and Silence likely were buried in unmarked graves. Need contact with other researchers of this line to compare notes.
