The Sowders-Koontz connection.I'm not sure how we connect, but we may have some lasting connections across our families. I have recently learned that my great great grandfather was Isaac Sowders born in New Jersy ca 1812, his son Benjamin E Sowders b. 1838 was my great grandfather. I don't know who Benjamin's brothers or sisters were. Benjamin E Married Lucretia Koontz in Stark County Ohio April 16, 1864.Isaac 1st showed up in Tuscarawas county Ohio in the 1840 Census. My family by verbal report was originally from PA. Through DNA testing we match the PA Mennonite group of Sowders.Interestingly several of Benjamin E Sowders children lived in a Christian Children's home.I believe this home was in Alliance Ohio. My great uncle Edward took gifts back to this home every Christmas. There was one daughter that remained in this home Lucy Sowders after Uncle Ed left. There was a census record of both of them being in the Fairmount Childrens Home in 1880. If this was my great aunt, I don't know what ever happened to her.
