I am trying to find a connection to my great great grandmother, Mary A. Blythe, who according to census records, was born in Ohio and married John Henry Housen (native of Germany). She was his second wife.
Mary Ann Blythe was born circa 1827 – 1829. Census records have her birthplace as Ohio. Her parents were born in Kentucky.
I have looked at the Henry Blythe, age 50, in the 1850 census of Van Wert County, OHIO.He had a wife, Mary, age 48.He also had a daughter Mary A. age 21, who seems to fit the bill perfectly -- maybe too perfectly!Other children were Sarah, Nancy, John, Catherine (Is this the Catherine Blythe who married Robert Rankin in 1862?), Cyrus B, Margaret and Margaret M. Pease.
Is anyone familiar with this family and do you know what happened to any of these Blythe children, especially Mary A.?Where did they go from Van Wert County in 1850?
By 1865 Mary and John were in New Orleans, Louisiana and later Texas.
1865 Orleans Parish Birth Index - E through K
NAME OF CHILD/ Thomas Housen Name of FATHER/John NAME OF MOTHER/
Mary Blythe
There were later sons, Henry, William, and Thomas
She also had daughters Ida andMary or Mollie.
Any clues would be most appreciated. Thanks!
