If you are a male who still carries the surname SPRINGER, we are looking for descendents of George and Barney Springer b. NJ or NY c1800-1805. Descendents of these brothers traveled west, some arriving in the Sacramento around 1850 and then traveling north. Some stayed in CA and some settled in Oregon.
I'm hoping there are still Springer families living in Baker Co. today who are from this line. We would like to use genetic DNA testing to see if this line matches any of the other 9 distinct Springer lines we have identified thus far, including the line of Christopher Springer of Sweden who died in the early 1600s.
Family lore of this family was told to me, and some members believe their line was from Christopher's son, Lorentz of RI. Since Lorentz did not leave Sweden, and many people earlier have confused Lorentz with 'Lawrence Springer' who did live in early Rhode Island, there is a good chance Lawrence is their ancestor. The lines of Christopher and of Lawrence are now documented in the Springer DNA study, plus 7 others.
If you are a 'Mr. Springer', and live in Baker Co., please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org . I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
