The work is essentially done, except for establishing the fates of his grandchildren from his first marriage: the children of his daughter Katherine Greene.
Katherine (b. Nov 1860) married Harry Slade Richards (b. Nov 1859) in Michigan. The family moved to Rochester, NY and raised two children that I'm aware of - but there is some confusion on the point.Census records show their children to be Karl Greene Richards (b. May 1884) and Helen Wood Richards (b. Oct 1886).
The confusion comes after the death of both parents and their daughter Helen (d. 1968), apparently in Rochester, NY.It comes in the form of adocument dated Sep 4, 1968 transferring unused burial plots in Rochester to a local church. The document is from...
Harry Slade Richards, "residing at 2389 S. E. Ada Avenue, Milwaukie, Oregon, being the only heir of Harry Slade Richards (Sr.) and Helen Wood Richards (his daughter, both now deceased)."
So... either there were two sons, Harry and Karl, or Karl changed his name to his father's later in life. The fact that Harry Jr. doesn't show up in the 1910, 1920, or 1930 censuses argues for Harry and Karl to be one and the same.(Harry Sr. married Katherine at age 20 so it's unlikely (but not impossible) that Harry Jr. was the product of an earlier marriage.)
