• Note::both Nipissing and Quintal in the St. Paul Church Register of the Catholic Church Reocrds of the Pacific
Northwest. They are in the Biographies of French Prairie (later St. Paul) Pioneers by Harriet Munnick.

In this journal, Laurent is a fur trader w/ 1 gun 3 traps 2 horses Tues Feb 10, 1824. Several reference to Laurent, he
deserted & was forced to come back, then he deserted again but turned back when Piegan Indians were coming.
• Note::Quintal is pronounced kin-tul
• Note::There is a possibility that Laurent was a Fur trapper from Canada who might have immigrated to Washington (Fort Vancouver) then possibily to Crook County Oregon.

• Note::Nipissing, Marie Anne (1819c.-), daughter of a nameless Chinook woman and the Metis trapper Louis Nipissing.
Formalized her marriage with Laurent Quintal at Fort Vancouver in 1839, Zoë having been born around 1832, Louis in 1835,
Rosalie in 1837. Samuel Handsaker, an American neighbor of the couple along Calapooian Creek, called her Laurent's
"Siwash Klootchman," native wife. Spoke Chinook proper as well as Jargon and French. Handsaker: “Louis Coutrell... had
not only a numerous family of his own but a generous number of grandchildren as well. The Indians would frequently
visit them, and it was a common occurrence for us to be awakened from our slumber, as in their drunken sprees they would
pass the door or our cabin, but the never molested us”,
