Local Help (Gilliam/Condon)
I have some genealogy research to do in Condon, Oregon and I'm looking for some help from a local. Here are my questions:
1. I'm trying to find the location of where some relatives lived. The 1910/1920 federal census' were kind enough to show the street names on the left (very cool). Can I visit the Gilliam County courthouse and the property records department to get a specific address?
2. What are the cemeteries that would have people from 1930?I see the Odd Fellows, King of Peace, Masonic, S. Gilliam County and St. Joseph cemeteries near Condon.I did not find any on-line searchable records here.
3. What mortuaries where processing people in that day and age.I found the Sweeney Mortuary, but I'm not sure how long they have been around.
4. Does the Gilliam County Historical Society have any good searchable records? How about the library?Any old newspapers (has the Times-Journal been around for long?).
Any I missing anything I should be looking for? Can't get most of the birth records, since it's not 100 years yet.
By the way, I'm searching for Anderson (1907-1914) and McFarlane (1908-1930 at least).
Thanks,
Rick Anderson ([email protected])
