The Hood River County Historical Museum has a good collection of early Hood River City Phone Directories. I am not sure which years. They have information for various families, buildings and organizations. The facility is available for research, but is not all that convenient to use, and the Museum isn't open year round.
The Hood River County School District has the school census records for each year from 1933 through 1957. I know that the 1950 school census lists M. F. Campbell with sons Merle F., Jr. (b. 13 Mar 1940) and Thomas Howard Campbell (b. 30 Jun 1944). Their address was listed as Rt#4, and the kids attended District 3, which was for the city of Hood River.
The Hood River Public Library has both hard and microfilm copies of Hood River newspapers. I do most of my research there (or at Idlewilde Cemetery) when I am in town.
The Family History Center has a little Hood River specific information, but probably not what you are looking for. I got a copy of the 1973 phone book from there, but I didn't see other old ones. The Campbell's aren't listed in the 1973 book. They have computers with Internet access.
