VANDERHOOF, John or Gilbert, 1920

By Debra Arnison April 11, 2003 at 06:58:44

I am seeking information on the following VANDERHOOFs and any of their family connections:

(1) Gilbert VANDERHOOF (possibly born mid-late 1800s, likely in NW Oregon)
       lived near Antelope, Oregon
had land patents (homestead and stock raising) issued in 1920 for
Section 32, Township 8-S, Range 18-E (Willamette Mer) in Wasco County

Topo maps show a VANDERHOOF CANYON in Sections 32 & 33.

The south side of this property is on the border with Jefferson County.

(2) John VANDERHOOF (possibly born mid-late 1800s, likely in NW Oregon)
had land patents (homestead and stock raising) issued in 1920 for portions of
       Sections 6, 7 & 8, Township 9-S, Range 18-E (Willamette Mer) in Jefferson County

Very near border with Wasco County

The properties for these two men were within a half mile or so to each other, across the Wasco-Jefferson county line.I suspect these VANDERHOOFS were brothers, and they may have had a sister named Susan Accelia Vanderhoof Windom Hendrixson who became my g-g-grandmother.
