Letters of Administration (filed in Westmoreland County, Greensburg PA) were granted for the estate of Jacob Britzious (so spelled) on 23 June 1794 to Christopher Truby, Mary Britzious and Frederick Rohrer, Jr.Mary Britzious / Mary Britzius was Mary Ann Truby (“Polly” Truby) who lived from 1775-1868.At the time of her husband’s death, she was about 19 years old.Polly was the youngest child of Colonel Christopher Truby (1736-1802) and Sybilla (Isabella) Bauman (1743-1801).
The Christopher Truby referenced in the legal document was either her father or her brother (Christopher Truby, born 1761).Frederick Rohrer, Jr. (1766/67-1794) was the brother-in-law of Jacob and Mary Ann Britzius—the husband of Catharina Truby Rohrer Marshall (1763/4-1806).Rohrer died within a few weeks of the death of Jacob Britzius.Bondsmen and sureties for the estate were Frederick Rohrer, Sr., and John Young.Polly Truby Britzius later married Dr. Simeon Hovey, 17 years her senior.
