Hello Tom, THank you for yor interest and reply. The problem with the detail presented is that it does not prove John Thomas's parentage. There are several family trees on various web sites that list Owen THomas and Mary Polly Hardin as his parents, and some like this one state the parentage has not been proven.
Mingo John Thomas was a Quaker, and my understanding of this group is that they were Pacifists. I have tried to find any mention of John Thomas in the role of a soldier in our Revolutionary War, with no sucess.
I believe several of his sons did fight in the War of 1812.
If you would follow the Thomas family line of Owen Thomas and Mary Hardin back to Wales, you would find the Thomas Clan to have been pretty fierce warriors. The history books tell much of their fighting among themselves and then both for and against the Royals of England. One was reported to have killed the King of England(Richard III), and then helped his cousin become the Tudor King of England, Henry VII, and continued to help Henry's infamous son, King Henry VIII.
So any how, if these lines really conect to my Mingo John Thomas, when did the line become Pacifists?
