Re: Delphis & Amanda Alarie
Actually, Patricia, you are quite correct.Pierre Sicard was Amanda's brother. He married first to a Marie Duhaime in St-Didace, QC.; then secondly to Valerie LeBlanc in Ste-Ursule (Maskinongé), QC. in 1874.Pierre and Valerie also accompanied Delphis and Amanda to Providence, and settled in St-Charles Parish off Dexter Street.Their daughter Georgianna married a Latour and had a large family, many of whom lived in the North Providence and Smithfield area.I remember several of them and I'm only in my mid-50s.One was Minnie Latour, a hairdresser on Smith Street, whom my grandmothers and aunts used to go to all the time. The world is very small.
As you can see, I have done considerable research on all these families who settled from Canada in the Woonasquatucket Valley, which is why I know as much as I do.Great legwork on the Alaries, by the way.I hadn't gotten to the 1881 census yet.Another thing, St-André is the parish name for Acton Vale, QC.You'll also find there the linking families for the Jetté, Charbonneau and Surprénant families of Providence, North Providence and Smithfield.I believe they all migrated to this area either together or shortly after each other.Best Regards,Dennis
