I'm looking for any and all info on Phillips Ga Legion Cavalry. Here are some names, words to look for:
Phillips Legion Cavalry William Phillips John B. Wilcoxon Seaborn Jones William Rich William B.C. Puckett General T.F. Drayton DuBignon Cavalry Johnson Rangers Cherokee Dragoons Coweta Rangers Bibb Cavalry Richmond Dragoons
They supposedly were involved in an 'Affair' near Bickingham, SC and an expedition to May River and operations near Bluffton, SC., from March 19-24,1862.That is absolutely ALL I know about these particular events.......not much.I would like to know a lot more about what was going on in those areas during the early part of the war, 61-62.General info as well as the specifics, so I can get a 'picture' of what was happening there and why Phillips Legion may have been sent there in the first place.
I know that they were sent there in January 1862, after the disasterous campaigns of Cotton Hill and Sewell Mountain (which I know nothing about yet).
I assume there was a camp(s) of some sort in the area where they recouperated and resuplied, etc.Do you know of any such camps? Are there maps, pictures, documents from them?
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you much.Steve my email is: firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
