Keishana,
While I have no information on your grandfather, the following may be helpful in your search:
While I have no information on your grandfather, the following may be helpful in your search:You should obtain a copy of his Social Security Application, Form SS5. It should contain information about his parents. To get started, go to http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search/ssdi/ssdi_index.asp. This is a search page for information from the Social Security Death Benefits Index. Type in his Social Security Number in the search field. The correct number is 413-30-6656. When the information appears, on the right hand side of the field is a link to "Write Letter". Click on this link. You will get a page with information about the SS5 and what it contains plus the fee. There is also a link to "-- generate letter".
This produces a filled in form letter for mailing to the Social Security Administration. After you send it be prepared to wait several weeks for a response.

While you are waiting for this you may wish to obtain a copy of his death certificate which also may contain family information. It appears that he died in Tennesee. If this is the case go to http://vitalrec.com/tn.html for information. If elsewhere, go to http://vitalrec.com/index.html and pick the state.

Go to CyndisList at http://www.CyndisList.com/census.htmand http://www.CyndisList.com/howto.htm for links to pages dealing with the census. There is also good material on http://www.nara.gov/publications/microfilm/census/
