While browsing around an antique shop in Brevard, N.C., recently, I bought a letter, written in 1910, mailed from Austria, to a Serena D. Alexander, Darlington, S.C. The letter is from Helena Hempel.
There are several post cards, dated 1909, mailed from Charleston, S.C., to this same person, S.D. Alexander, Darlington, S.C. One has her as a Miss, the others as Fino and/or Fraulino. The cards are from a Virgil C. Dibble, Jr., Charleston, S.C.
Not related to her, (I think) were about six large pictures, well marked as to the persons, one of which was an Eben Alexander, Jr., and also a Dr. Eben Alexander. They all appear to be group pictures, dated 1901, when Eben was in a medical school, possibly in Durham, N.C.
