Robert Grover Murphy Sr. came with his family from Ireland to settle in Savannah. Georgia in 1780. Robert Grover Murphy Jr. was horn in Ireland in 1764 and married a Cherokee Indian girl whose name is unknown. Their daughter. Sarah Murphy. born in 1781 in Georgia. was married to James Johnson. born in 1777 in South Carolina. They were married in 18(15 in Georgia. Johnson was the son of a plantation owner of land and slaves. They went from Georgia to Washington County, Alabama in 1832.
