And in this case . . . . .we don't knowwhether her maiden name is McCullough or somethingelse . .. . .we do have her in Petoka Twp., Gibson Co., Indiana in the 1850 cenus with a 13 year old Leander M. in a household w/o husband but with a Nancy DEEM w/ infant son.We now know Nancy was probably Agnes Nancy McCullough, who married four times and the DEEM was the second. Her second husband was James Alexander CAMPBELL, son of John CAMPBELL and Nancy AYERS.Agnes "Nan" was also born in South Carolina.
Agnes "Nan" CAMPBELL brother-in-law and wife lived and died in the Pinckneyville area of Perry Co., IL Hugh CAMPBELL and Jane BROWN.They are buried in the Hopewell Cem, too, as is Jane's father John BROWN who married Elizabeth McCullough, dau of the Rev. Robert McCullough and Margaret SIMONTON.We know that at least one other of Rev Robert and Margaret's daughters a Melinda went to Gibson Co., Indiana from South Carolina:she had married a Samuel who together with a James and a George that migrated there, were sons of Samue McCULLOUGH and Elizabeth McCRORY.
What is nice for us is that Jane BROWN's brother was Leander BROWN, so we kinda think that Leander M. McCullough was probably named for an uncle. . . .. and that either Isabelle or her husband William and/or Agnes were siblings of Leander's mother Elizabeth, and children of the Rev. Robert and Margaret SIMONTON.I have more on these related families if anyone is interested.
Leander BROWN and his mother Elizabeth (McCullough) BROWN left Perry Co. to settle 60 miles outside of Austin Texas.I have wondered if William McCullough had followed along . . . . .
