I can't give you the origins of Milford though it has been named in records since the early 1800's. You may know it is located at the S. Tyger River and Clear Creek. The Milford Baptist Church records have some info but sketchy on the early Milford Meeting. I believe it had been a meeting place since about 1818 but will have to find that source. One deed in Greenville Co., S.C. reads as follows: (abstract) Book Q, p 198, Sep 17,1829 John Brown to Milford Church, viz, James Harper, Spartan Goodlett, James Nolan and their sucessors, $5 for 1-9/10a on Tyger River. For use to build a church house where Milford meeting now resides. Wit. John H. Goodlett, G. Walker.
The Post Office at Milford was established in 1831 but I don't know exactly where it was located.
I am familiar with many of the old families who lived around Milford,i.e., Wash Taylor, Harbin, Stewart, Rainey, Langley, and several others.
