Curtis, I cannot confirm this information, it just came to me via another researcher this weekend. Here's what I have been told:
John L. Huggins married his second wife, an Isabelle Wilkes, in the Darlington Co. or Chesterfield Co. area of SC.He purchased 200 acres of land from a Margaret Wilkes, witnessed by a John Wilkes, in Sept 1872.
This Isabelle was born about 1844 as deduced from the 1880 census. She was listed as 36 years old at that time. Don't have anything on *where* this was, but it was apparently in a book about the Wilkes family that a downstream relative of Huggins' third wife passed this info along to another Huggins researcher who sent it to me.
Pshwew! Confused? Me, too! We'd been told that Isabelle's last name was Polson!!
I'm wondering if there is any relationship between your Francis and this John Wilkes. If anything, he would have been the age to have been either a grandson or a grand-nephew, perhaps.
Good luck!I'll let you know if this is a real connection (although tenuous, granted) or not.
