I was looking back over some of the postings I have made and I ran across this one in which you mentioned that your Uncle Quill's father was a James Barfield that you feel may have came from South Carolina.Last month I printed out a summary of Barfield's that were listed in previous census years in South Carolina and I noticed several James Barfield's listed. This summary came from Ancestry.com.These are as follows:
James Barfield, 1850, Chesterton County, p. 154 James Barfield,1800, Edgefield County, p. 156 James Barfield,1800, Edgefield County, p.156 James Barfield,1850, Marion County, p.055 James Barfield,1830, Sumter County, p.120 James Barfield,1850, Sumter County, p.323
I don't have access to either of these census records, but, in case you have not already spotted them, I thought I would point them out to you.I'm sure that you are aware that names of everyone in each household were not listed in the census records prior to 1850.
It is looking more realistic that my ancestors are from the North Carolina group that migrated to South Carolina. They include Daniel, Soloman, Miles and probably James.Daniel and Miles father was named James Barfield, Sr.Let me know if you come across any items relating to the above.
Hope this is small amount of information is of benefit to you.
