I noticed your reply in the GenForum.Edward McMahan, son of John McMahan, owned land that adjoined my gggggrandfather, John Marshall's land in Sevier County.John Marshall's son, William (my ancestor), married a Caroline (unknown maiden name) and they moved to Cole County, Missouri about 1828.Do you know of any McMahans who would have had a daughter named Caroline who would have been born in September 1806? It's been difficult turning up information since the courthouse burned in 1856.Thanks for your help.
